What is ENGINEERING
Engineering originated with early civilization. Vishwakarma is the God of all technicians. Weapons for war, chariots, airplanes, palaces, temples, extraction of metals, musical instruments and ancient jewelry etc. are engineering marvels created by the craftsmen called – mason, mechanic, carpenter, blacksmith, goldsmith etc.

Modern Concept & Branches
Formal education for Civil Engineering started in France around 1750-1800 AD. This was followed by Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical streams in England. List got enlarged with new streams like Textiles, Mining, Metallurgy, Aeronautical, Architecture, Agriculture, Computer Science and IT, Electronics, Telecom, Petroleum, Plastics, Environment and disciplines like Space, Biotechnology, Mechatronics, Automation, Genetic Engineering etc. (List is not complete)

4 - Levels of Tech-Education

Skill training of 2 – 6 months duration in any technical activity;

Certificate courses from the Industrial Training Institutes (ITI)

Diploma of 3-years from Polytechnic or a Community College;

Under Graduate courses of 4-years called B E, B Tech or BS;
Success in career is neither linked to degree, diploma or Institution. It depends on sharpness of observation, imagination, analytical ability and competence to solve problems that one may have without formal education also.
